Debts to Utility Companies

Section 366 of the Bankruptcy Code protects debtors who file for bankruptcy from discrimination by utility companies.

In other words, the utility may not cut off service because you file for bankruptcy.

The utility may require you to post a deposit however in order to assure service after the bankruptcy filing.
